Crispy Fried Fish with Seasoned Potatoes! 🐟🥔

Ingredients:

For the Fried Fish:

  • 4 white fish fillets (cod, tilapia, or haddock)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal (or panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

For the Seasoned Potatoes:

  • 4 medium potatoes, cut into wedges or cubes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp cayenne (optional)

Instructions:

For the Potatoes:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Toss potatoes with olive oil and seasonings in a bowl.
  3. Spread on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy and golden brown.

For the Fried Fish:

  1. Heat about 1 inch of oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk egg and buttermilk.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, and seasonings.
  4. Dip each fish fillet into the egg mixture, then coat in the flour mixture.
  5. Fry fish for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain on paper towels.

Serve With:
