Earl Grey Cookies Recipe 🍪🌸
These buttery, aromatic cookies are infused with the floral and citrusy notes of Earl Grey tea. Perfect with a cup of tea or coffee!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp finely ground Earl Grey tea leaves (from about 3–4 tea bags)
- 1/4 tsp salt
Optional Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk or lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, powdered sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, ground Earl Grey tea leaves, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Shape the Dough:
- Divide the dough in half. Roll each half into a log, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until firm.
- Bake the Cookies:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice the chilled dough into 1/4-inch thick rounds and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Optional Glaze:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk or lemon juice, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cookies for an extra touch of sweetness.
Tips:
- Tea Quality: Use a high-quality Earl Grey tea for the best flavor.
- Storage: Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Add-ins: Try adding orange zest or a pinch of lavender for a unique twist.
Enjoy these delightful Earl Grey cookies with a hot cup of tea! ☕✨
