Bacon, Beer, and Cheese Sloppy Joes 🍔🥓🧀🍺
A rich, cheesy, and slightly boozy twist on a classic sloppy joe—this recipe is packed with crispy bacon, gooey cheese, and a hint of beer for extra depth of flavor!
Ingredients:
- 6 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
- ½ cup onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup beer (lager or ale works best)
- ½ cup beef broth
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 brioche or hamburger buns, toasted
Instructions:
- Cook the Bacon – In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Brown the Beef – In the same skillet with the bacon grease, add ground beef and onions. Cook until beef is browned and onions are soft (about 5 minutes). Drain excess grease if needed.
- Add Flavor – Stir in garlic, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Deglaze with Beer – Pour in beer and scrape up any bits from the bottom of the skillet. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly reduced.
- Simmer the Sauce – Add beef broth, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Stir well and let simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
- Make it Cheesy – Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy. Add the crispy bacon back in.
- Assemble & Serve – Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto toasted buns and serve immediately!
Tips & Variations:
✔ Spicy Kick? Add hot sauce or diced jalapeños.
