Basic French Toast 🍞🥞✨
A classic, easy, and delicious French Toast recipe for the perfect breakfast!
Ingredients:
- 4 slices thick bread (brioche, Texas toast, or challah work best)
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup milk (or heavy cream for richness)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional but recommended)
- 1 tbsp sugar (optional for a touch of sweetness)
- 1 tbsp butter, for cooking
- Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit, for serving
Instructions:
- Prepare the batter – In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar until well combined.
- Dip the bread – Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly but not soaking it too much.
- Cook – Place the coated bread slices onto the hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Serve – Remove from heat and serve warm with syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.
Tips & Variations:
✔ Use stale bread – It absorbs the batter better without getting soggy.
